Amid Scandal, Victoria’s Secret Posts Apology and Pulls Native American Ensemble from December Broadcast

Karlie Kloss in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Victoria’s Secret has received quite the backlash concerning the above lingerie set.  The annual VS Fashion Show featured this outfit, worn by VS Angel and supermodel Karlie Kloss, as a part of their “Calender Girls” portion with this look representing November.  There was immediate uproar from the public as well as the Native American community, condemning VS for racism and cultural insensitivity.  VS had the following to say on the matter via their Facebook page:

“We are sorry that the Native American headdress replica used in our recent fashion show has upset individuals.

We sincerely apologize as we absolutely had no intention to offend anyone.

Out of respect, we will not be including the outfit in any broadcast, marketing materials nor in any other way.”

Personally, I’m shocked that no one in the VS camp vetoed this outfit in the first place, they had to have an inkling that it would offend some folks.  The more I see, the more difficult it is to offend me; that goes for this issue as well.  But I do find the outfit to be completely aesthetically tacky.  Do better VS.
